đź“… This Week at SKTA! (June 1 to 5, 2026)Â
Dear St. Kateri Families,
As we near the end of the school year, I would like to sincerely thank our entire school community — staff, students, parents and guardians, Catholic School Council, and parish partners — for the support, cooperation, and positive spirit that make St. Kateri such a special place for our students.
The strong partnership between home, school, and church has helped create a caring and supportive environment where students feel valued, encouraged, and connected. I am truly grateful for the dedication, kindness, and commitment shown by our community each and every day.
As I prepare to leave St. Kateri at the end of this month and begin my new role at St. Patrick Catholic Elementary School in Schomberg in September, I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for the support you have shown me during my time here. It has been a privilege to be part of this wonderful community. Go Tigers Go!!
I know that Mrs. Palmeri will be an incredible leader for the St. Kateri community, and I am confident the school will continue to thrive under her leadership.
Thank you again for everything you do to support our students and our school community.
June Faith and Community Highlights
As we enter the month of June, we are reminded of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, a beautiful symbol of God’s love and compassion for all. Throughout the month, our school community will continue to reflect on faith, kindness, and service to others. We will also join Catholic communities across Ontario in prayer leading up to the Solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus on June 12.
Our virtue focus for June is Integrity — encouraging our students to live their faith through honesty, kindness, and actions that reflect Gospel values each day.
June is also a time of celebration and reflection within our broader community. We recognize and celebrate National Indigenous Heritage Month and National Indigenous Peoples Day on June 21, honouring the rich history, cultures, and contributions of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis peoples. June is also recognized as Pride Month across Canada, reminding us of the importance of creating welcoming, respectful, and inclusive spaces for all. In addition, June is recognized as Italian Heritage Month in Ontario. This annual celebration was officially proclaimed by the province in 2010 through the Italian Heritage Month Act and coincides with Italy’s National Day (Festa della Repubblica) on June 2.
Other important dates this month include:
-
June 5 – World Environment Day
-
June 13 – Feast of St. Anthony of Padua
-
June 21 – Father’s Day & National Indigenous Peoples Day
-
June 24 – Feast of St. John the Baptist (St. Jean Baptiste)
-
June 27 – Canadian Multiculturalism Day
As we approach the end of the school year, thank you for your continued support, partnership, and commitment to our school community.
FIFA World Cup 2026 Kickoff Assembly
We are excited to announce our FIFA World Cup 2026 Kickoff Assembly on Thursday, June 11 at 2:30 p.m. Organized by our Students With Voices Club, this student-led event will celebrate the diversity, cultures, and global spirit that soccer brings to communities around the world. To help decorate our assembly space, we are inviting families to lend flags from countries participating in the FIFA World Cup 2026. If you are able to send one in, please ensure it is clearly labelled with your child’s name and class so it can be safely returned after the event. Leading up to the assembly, students will also take part in special spirit days including Dress Like Your Country Day, Soccer Fan Day, and Red & White Day to celebrate Team Canada and our shared school spirit. Thank you for helping us celebrate the many cultures and communities represented through the beautiful game of soccer.
