This Week at SKTA October 6 to 10

I hope this message finds you well. It has been another full and meaningful week of learning and activity here at St. Kateri. From our Safety Week drills to preparing for our upcoming school Mass on Friday, October 10, our students continue to shine through their hard work, creativity, and enthusiasm.

We are especially proud of our Student Council and Luke 4:18 Committee, who are already planning events that will nurture our students’ spiritual growth while also building community through fun and engaging activities.

Below, you’ll find highlights from this past week, as well as a look ahead at the exciting events and opportunities coming up for our school community.

Pizza Lunch Update

Unfortunately, we have experienced an issue with our Thursday Pizza Lunch provider and are in the process of securing a new supplier. Families who placed orders through the original offering will receive a full refund. Refunds will be issued through School-Day to the original method of payment.

We appreciate your patience and understanding. Details about the new Pizza Lunch program will be shared within the next few days, and the updated order option will be posted on School-Day once finalized.

We are excited to share that Blessed Frédéric Ozanam Parish will be hosting a special event on the weekend of October 18–19, 2025 at St. Brother André CHS (6160 16th Avenue, Markham).

The event highlights the life and work of Saint Carlo Acutis, the first millennial saint canonized earlier this month. Students have already heard about his inspiring story as a modern role model of faith

Weekend Highlights include:

  • Eucharistic Miracles of the World Exhibition (researched by Saint Carlo)
  • Veneration of a First-Class Relic of Saint Carlo
  • Mass, Confession, and Adoration
  • Youth Rally (Gr. 5–12) on Saturday evening (pre-registration required)

📌 More details and flyers are available at: www.blessedozanam.ca/belikecarlo

We hope many of our families will take part in this inspiring celebration of faith.

October is K-12 Cyber Awareness Month!

This month is a wonderful opportunity for our school community to learn more about staying safe online. Together, we can build healthy digital habits and reduce risks related to privacy, security, and online safety.

For the past four years, the Ministry of Education and the Educational Collaborative Network of Ontario (ECNO) have partnered to create K-12 Cyber Awareness Month (CAM). This annual campaign provides practical tips and resources to help schools, students, and families use technology in safe and responsible ways.

Through CAM, families and students have access to age-appropriate activities and resources that support safe online navigation and strengthen digital skills.

Fall Food Drive in support of Markham Foodbank

This week, we are proud to support the Markham Food Bank in their important work of helping families in our community. We invite students to bring in non-perishable food items to school. Every contribution, big or small, makes a difference in the lives of others.

Thank you for your generosity and for helping us live out our call to care for those in need.
