October Is International Walk to School Month (IWALK) –
IWALK DAY Is October 2, 2025
International Walk to School Month (IWALK) is an annual event that takes place in October to raise awareness about the benefits of walking and other types of active transportation to get to and from school. It is a great opportunity for students, families and the school community to be part of a global event to celebrate the benefits of active transportation.
Join the movement! Tell your Teachers! Tell your Friends! We encourage all students to WALK to and from school or to and from bus stops for the month of October.
Sincerely,
YCDSB Active School Travel Team

International Day for the Eradication of Poverty
Last year, YCDSB schools raised $41,000 to support families in York Region. This year, students are invited to wear their favourite jersey or team colours and bring a donation to help ensure every child can fully participate in school life.
💙 Every contribution makes a difference—thank you for supporting equity, dignity, and compassion in our community.

Safety Week at St. Kateri Tekakwitha CES
At St. Kateri, the safety and well-being of our students is always a top priority. This week, staff and students will take part in reviewing important safety procedures and participating in practice drills to ensure everyone knows what to do in the event of an emergency. Students will be reminded of routines prior to each drill.
