📅 This Week at SKTA!
🗓️ November 3 – 7, 2025
Dear St. Kateri Families,
What an exciting week it’s been cheering on our Blue Jays — we wish them the best of luck this weekend! Thank you to everyone who has continued to support our Halloween Dance Fundraiser through donations; your generosity truly helps our school community.
We’re also so proud of our Intermediate Volleyball teams for their effort and sportsmanship at the St. Brother André Invitational Tournament last week — a great warm-up for this week’s local competitions. The students worked hard and represented our school with pride!
A big thank-you goes out to our Halloween Dance Committee and our amazing parent volunteers for helping make the event such a fun and successful day!
🍂 November Reflections: Faith, Justice, and Community 🌟
As November arrives, we move from the vibrant colours of autumn to the quiet beauty of winter. This month’s prayers and reflections invite us to pause, remember, and act with justice and compassion.
🙏 Prayer for the Month
You can access this month’s prayer slide here: [Insert link to prayer slide]
🕊 The Liturgical Calendar
November is a month of remembrance and reflection.
We begin with All Saints Day (Nov. 1) and All Souls Day (Nov. 2), honouring all who have gone before us.
Throughout the month, we also celebrate several feast days, including St. Martin de Porres, St. Charles Borromeo, St. Martin of Tours, St. Agnes of Assisi, St. Cecilia, St. Clement, St. Andrew, and Christ the King.
This period marks the final weeks of Ordinary Time (Year C) in the Church’s liturgical cycle.
⚖️ Virtue of the Month: Justice
This month, we focus on the virtue of Justice — a value Jesus lived and taught.
We reflect on:
-
The justice needed to care for our planet 🌍
-
The justice needed to build harmony in our classrooms and playgrounds 💬
-
The justice needed to create fairness in our world ✊
When we join Justice with Compassion (October’s virtue), we truly live out the Gospel message and example of Jesus.
We are inspired by the prayer of St. Francis of Assisi:
“Lord, make me an instrument of your peace.”
🌟 Catholic Graduate Expectation: Responsible Citizen
The Ontario Catholic School Graduate Expectations remind us that our students are called to be responsible citizens who promote peace, justice, and respect for all life. Through observances such as All Saints Day, All Souls Day, and Remembrance Day, students will deepen their faith and learn what it means to live it out in their daily actions.
💚 Supporting Strong Mental Health in Children
Strong mental health helps children and youth to:
✅ Think clearly and manage emotions
✅ Develop socially and emotionally
✅ Learn new skills effectively
It also helps build:
-
Confidence
-
Self-esteem
-
A positive outlook on life
A child with strong mental health is more likely to thrive in school, build healthy relationships, and adapt successfully to life’s transitions — from elementary school to high school, and beyond.
🚶♀️ Active School Travel & Mental Health
Did you know that Active School Travel can strengthen your child’s mental health?
Walking or wheeling to and from school can:
-
Boost academic performance 🧠
-
Increase confidence and self-esteem 💪
-
Support positive social connections 🤗
-
Encourage lifelong healthy habits 🌞
According to Children’s Mental Health Ontario, 1 in 5 children and youth experience a mental health challenge, and 70% of these begin in childhood or adolescence. Let’s be proactive in promoting wellness through daily movement!
🏫 Simple Ways to Add Active School Travel to Your Day
-
Walk or wheel to school or the bus stop
-
Park a block away and walk the rest of the way
-
Choose one or two days a week to start a new habit
Small changes can make a big difference — for your child’s mental health and your own!

Join us for a free live webinar where EQAO staff will discuss math questions that Ontario students encounter when they participate in Ontario’s large-scale assessments. These assessments are taken by all Ontario students in Grades 3, 6 and 9. During the webinar, EQAO staff will show how these math questions help assess the skills students are learning in their math classes. Staff will also share valuable insights from the past three years of assessment results, which can help parents and guardians support their children’s math learning. Webinar date:

Kiss and Ride Reminder
We would like to thank our school community for following our updated Kiss and Ride routine. Reminder below on the current practice here at the school:
Parking and Escorting Your Child:
-
If you wish to escort your child(ren) to the school gates (located on the west side of the Kindergarten Yard), kindly park your car in the designated parking area at the front of the school.
Using the Kiss and Ride:
-
Please proceed past the pylons in the Kiss and Ride lot and pull over to the curb to drop off your child(ren).
-
Do not double park in the Kiss and Ride, as this poses a safety risk to others.
Handicap Parking Spots:
-
We kindly remind families to reserve the use of handicap parking spaces for those who require them.
End of Day
- Families are to refrain from entering the Kiss and Ride area of the school and parking in the Fire Root. We do have spots available prior to the bus arrival for dismissal.
