Catholic School Council News
Thank you St. Kateri families. With your generous support our Halloween fundraiser was able to raise over $6300 for the school. The money that the CSC raises throughout the year goes towards many areas throughout the school. Last year the CSC raised over $23,000. That money was then used to purchase Chromebooks, document cameras, Gym equipment, classroom supports, enhancements for the library and outdoor recess yard. The CSC also provides monetary support to the sacrament celebrations, school presentations, Carnaval, Kindergarten celebration of learning and Grade 8 graduation.
Thank you so much for your ongoing support of the Catholic School Council and our initiatives. We look forward to another amazing year of fun events and fundraising to help support our wonderful community.

Ribbons and Bows
The Catholic School Council is excited to once again run the Ribbons and Bows event this year in our school gymnasium on Wednesday, December 13, 2023. Please see the attached flier and letter for further information on the event and the opportunity to volunteer to help with this school event.
St. Kateri Christmas Concert News
The St. Kateri Tekakwitha CES Christmas Concert will be held Wednesday, December 20th, 2023 at 1:30pm. Our Catholic School Council will be holding a special draw for seats at the front of the gymnasium.
The Christmas Draw proceeds being held by our Catholic School Council will be directed to classroom enhancements, special projects and activities that occur at our school. The Four VIP Packages include 4 Front Row Seats for the concert and one VIP Parking Spot.
The youngest child in each family will be coming home with a letter and raffle tickets that can be purchased and returned to the school. If you choose to participate in the raffle would you kindly make the cheque payable to St. Kateri Tekakwitha CES.

First Communion:
In-person First Communion registration day is fast approaching for families looking to participate in this Sacrament. Families are reminded that registration will happen on Saturday, November 18th at St. Brother Andre high school.
Christmas Gift Card Drive
Our school community has been so generous in helping our Blessed Frederic Ozanam SSVP fulfill the needs of the less fortunate who live in our community at Christmas. Please see the attached flyer for more details.

Inclement Weather Reminder:
Parents/guardians are reminded to visit School Bus City for up to date information regarding your child’s route. For up to date information regarding their child’s bus route.
If transportation is canceled in the morning due to inclement weather it will not operate in the afternoon. Therefore, students transported to school by parent(s)/guardian(s) will require the same transportation home. We would like to stress the importance of exercising discretion when deciding to send their child to school on Inclement Weather days. Should an inclement weather day occur and Student transportation is canceled all planned tests, quizzes, excursions, school programs, parent meetings (i.e., IPRC’s), workshops, co-curricular activities and evening presentations, and all evening Permits would be canceled. Furthermore, the hot lunch program would be canceled for the applicable day(s).
Before and After Programs in schools make every effort to remain open in inclement weather, but Before and After Programs can only operate if the school is open. However, the decision to open or to close early is up to the discretion of the Child Care Operator.
Winter Weather Policy Recesses
It is very important that students have the opportunity to play outside and to be warm while they play. Students will be outside for both 15 minute recesses and the 40 minute lunch recess during the winter, weather permitting. We check the weather station (Weather Channel) at frequent intervals throughout the day and adhere to Board Policy #221.
When the weather is -20°c, the 15 minute recesses will be outdoors and the lunch will be outdoors. If it’s colder than -20°c at recess, we will commence indoor routines.
