This month’s virtue is courage. Courage for our students as they return to school and the classroom. As parents/caregivers, let your children know that it is normal to be nervous when starting a new grade; to meet new people and learn something new. We know it may be difficult for many. Supporting the mental health of our students is a priority for us. Our school support staff, including behaviour resource staff, psychological services staff, and mental health workers, are available to determine the best way to support individual students. To learn more about mental health services and supports available visit Mental Health @YCDSB or YCDSB Student & Family MH Site on Twitter @YCDSB_MH and on Instagram @mh_ycdsb.

Safety Reminders:
We would kindly ask parents and guardians to park their car if they wish to escort their child(ren) to the gates of the school playground. All other parents using the Kiss and Ride are asked to proceed past the pylons in the Kiss & Ride lot and pull over to the curb to drop off their child(ren). We would also like to ask our families to keep the use of the handicap parking spots for those families that require these special spots.

2022-2023 COVID-19 Health and Safety Measures – Families
School and Child Care Screening Tool:
The school and child-care screening tool was updated on August 31, 2022. Students should continue to screen before going into school. Key highlights include:
- If you are in contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19, continue to self- monitor for symptoms. There is no longer a need to isolate but you should wear a mask for 10 days when in public (including school and child care).
- If you are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 such as fever, cough, or runny nose, stay home from school, work and social events until your fever is gone and symptoms are improving, get a rapid antigen test or, if eligible, a PCR test. Wear a mask for 10 days after testing positive for COVID-19 or from when symptoms started and avoid non-essential visits to high-risk individuals and settings.
