Blessed Frederic Ozanam Parish News

All First Reconciliations will take place at St. Brother Andre High School. The Parish is asking one parent/adult to accompany the child receiving this sacrament. Father Rick will be the only priest hearing all the First Reconciliations.

Students have been assigned alphabetically by school in small groups of approximately 10 -12 children.

St. Kateri Tekakwitha students are invited to participate in this sacrament on Saturday, March 26th from 12:00 to 1:00 pm.

Mass

On March 24, 2022, the York Catholic District School Board will mark a Day of Reconciliation and Renewal by gathering together at 9:30 am for a Board-wide Mass. Our celebrant will be Bishop Boissonneau.

Prayer, Fasting and Alms for Ukraine

On Tuesday, March 7, 2022, St. Kateri Tekakwitha will be accepting loonie or toonie donations for humanitarian relief in response to the tragedy unfolding in Ukraine. All funds collected across the YCDSB will be compiled into one cheque and sent to the Archdiocese of Toronto.

The Board cannot issue tax receipts to parents for these donations.

If a parent/guardian wishes to donate funds and requests a tax receipt you may do so directly through the Archdiocese of Toronto website here.

Jungle Sport

We are excited and pleased to bring Junglesport, an adventure and climbing program, back to our school this year while respecting all health and safety protocols currently in place in our school.  The program was met with great success in previous years and will include participation for all students from FDK to Grade 8.

A permission Letter and Element of Risk form was sent home earlier this past week. If it has been misplaced a digital copy is available below. If you have any questions please feel free to contact the school.

World Down Syndrome Day

World Down Syndrome Day (WDSD) is an opportunity to recognize and celebrate people with Down Syndrome around the globe. In 2012, the United Nations declared March 21st, the 21st day of the 3rd month of the year, as WDSD.  This signifies the uniqueness of the triplication (trisomy) of the 21st chromosome which causes Down syndrome. This day was also declared Ontario Down Syndrome Day by the Legislative Assembly of Ontario in 2016.

As a school community to show our support and help raise awareness about World Down Syndrome Day, we would like to encourage everyone to wear mismatched socks for the day.
