Travel Guidance for Families

Students and their families who choose to travel must follow all federal and provincial travel restrictions and guidelines. These can be found on the federal COVID-19: Travel, testing and borders website and Ontario’s Traveling during COVID-19 website.

Important to note that unvaccinated children under the age of 12 who travel outside of Canada with fully vaccinated adults may be exempt from quarantine rules, however, they are NOT allowed to attend school or childcare for 14 days after returning home. During this time, students would NOT qualify for hybrid learning; all learning would be asynchronous. Unvaccinated students who travel within Canada are permitted to attend school as long as they have no symptoms.

Requesting A Change In Modality

Between January 3 – 14, 2022, families wishing to change their current learning modality selection can do so by:

  • Calling or emailing your current school office with your change request;
  • If staff are not able to answer your call, leave a message with your child’s name, grade and the change you are requesting – to either remote or in-person.
  • Families can expect the school to follow up and confirm the request by phone or email.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: If no change is needed to your current modality selection, do not contact the school – no action is required.

Families are reminded that remote students will stay remote for the full duration of Term 2, and in-person students will stay in-person for the full duration of Term 2. There will be no exceptions to this. There are many reasons why we cannot allow students to go back and forth, not the least of which is that it creates serious disruption to teaching and learning. Please consider your decision carefully and with a view of the entire five month period from February to June.

Changes in learning modality in Elementary schools will take effect on February 14, 2022.

To ensure our school continues to be safe, inclusive places to learn and work. The health and safety protocols in our School Re-entry Plan are updated regularly to stay in line with the latest public health guidance.

Student Achievement – Board Christmas Card 2021

Each year, YCDSB requests artwork from students for its official Christmas Card. The chosen artwork is used on the official 2021 YCDSB Christmas Card which will be distributed by Trustees and the Director’s Office. This year we are so proud of our own Isabelle G., as her submission was selected for the inside cover of the Christmas Card.
